Back from Otakon! Sorry that I didn't make a pre-Otakon this-is-what-I'm-wearing post: I was working on costumes up until the last minute. I am NEVER. DOING. THAT. AGAIN. It's actually the first time since I was 14 that I've done that... and now I remember why.

Pictures will be posted once [livejournal.com profile] epiic processes them. David and I totally forgot to get pictures of ourselves, haha.

Also, I think that's the last time I do more than one photoshoot at a convention - it seemed like our convention just evaporated between that and waiting on various people. :(

Oh: F-list, do you have any suggestions for gaming/sci-fi/gen cons? Go to any yourself? I only really know about Dragoncon, Pax/PaxEast, Connecticon, and Gencon.

BayCon, FanimeCon... (those are both here in Cali...) BosCon (Boston, MA), AnimeNext (NY/NJ), um... NandesuCon (Denver, CO)... DevilCon (Piscataway/Rutgers, NJ)

COME TO FANIME COME TO FANIME COME TO FANIME!! (next year!)

i usually go to: FanimeCon, GoGaDoll (BJD convention, not gaming/scifi/anime), and YaoiCon, with the occasional look-in at AOD (formerly Anime Overdose, then Anime Overdrive, now Animation On Display) and Tales of Anime (when it actually happens). we're looking at possibly doing Anime Expo next year (by request of a fellow artists alley vendor from Fanime who we often do trades with.)

It sounds to me like SDCC is a lot more general than the name would suggest, but that's also pretty much right back-to-back with Otakon, so it might be a bit of a pain. But at least you've got all year now to prepare should you think about going there. ^_~

Yay, thanks! And it's fine - though I didn't get to give you your scarf!

Welcome back! Glad you had a safe trip! Even if it was, apparently, of the hectic and maddening sort.

Yay for being back home with one's own pantry~.

Sorry I missed you at con!

Re: Photoshoots
- The photoshoots themselves shouldn't vacuum your con too much, since they only tend to run an hour to 90 minutes at the very very outside. Just odn't go if they conflict with something else you want to do/people you want to hang out with.
I found this time around, though, that you really need to give yourself more than two hours between shoots - the only reason I made the AA shoot (that didn't actually happen, thanks fire alarm bastards) was because my SD card maxed out towards the tail end of Saturday's Touhou shoot, so I had to leave early.
Oh, and yeah, don't try to RUN more than one a weekend. Besides the whole voice thing, that DOES put a lot of stress.

Well, the photoshoots we were doing were professional/scheduled, not group shoots, so we had to wait for the photographer. :) Plus, it wasn't as social as a group shoot. That tends to take my mind off the time spent.

If you can think of a big-enough fandom, there's probably a con. Lisa was telling our room about some sort of Sonic the Hedgehog con mascotted with real live hedgehogs? o_O;;

I don't remember if you followed Doctor Who but there is a Who con. :3 And I've heard of a Who con and an anime con on cruise ships which are a bit different.

Lisa and Ted were talking about Burning Man which is not a con as a gathering of like-minded people? It still scares me with "camping" and "mandatory participation", though. Mostly the participation part. :x

I haven't actually gone to any of these... but thought I could start your search off somewhere.
