So, I'm out now. I'll be on a halter monitor for the next 24 hours, starting sometime tomorrow, to catch anything that happens. While I was on the monitor at the hospital, I had a few very brief rapid spikes in heart rate, so this will actually record them and any full episodes that happen.

Chances are good that it's just a weirdness of my body and I'll just be taught how to limit their occurance and severity. Hopefully, anyway. :)

My mom has something called paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia. It sounds like what's been happening to you. It's also associated with mitral valve prolapse, which can increase your risk for infection of the heart. I guess just ask them about this, if it could be this? My mom is on a medicine called Topral to control her attacks and she has had many fewer mild ones and no major ones since she started it.

They think I might have ventricular tachycardia already, though a benign form given age of onset. I think that sort of thing is already on their minds, but I'll make sure to ask about it when I see my doctor on Friday to go over the monitor results. :)

Just wanted to give you the info since it sounded like what my mom went through. It actually manifested in her when she was pretty young too, I think in her teens although it didn't get bad enough to need medicine until a few years ago.

Just a little, huh? So far, signs are pointing to something benign and manageable, so let's hope the evidence bears that out.

I would negate what people are telling you and what you may read online, and just take it easy and not surmise anything until you see doctors. The heart is very complicated and it could be a myriad of things that might have similar symptoms, but might not. However, one thing is certain! Stress affects the heart either way. So just relax for now knowing that you'll have answers soon. :)

Right. :) I'm trying my best now that the initial panic has subsided to put everything out of my mind. (The nice thing is that the one thing the doctor did suggest is pretty much certainly benign - so that's definitely reassuring.) Still, I am scared... having something abnormal with my heart is scarier to me than throwing up or running a fever. I'm going to do my best, though!

Yeah, no kidding. XD; I guess I'll have to really take care of myself at Otakon. None of this forgetting to eat stuff.

*hugs!* This is what I get being out of the loop a few days, huh?

Take care, and I hope this gets figured out and dealt with good and quick!
