So, um. Shit.

I'm having another tachycardic event. My heart rate is already up past 125. When it was at 110, I called Stacey, and she told me to call the doctor. They want me to get to the ER as soon as possible for testing, so Stacey's on her way to pick me up. I don't have my health insurance card on me, so yeah. Um.

Shit.

I had a mild attack (never went up past 110) last night, and this time and last night there were no triggers. We thought it was antihistimines, but maybe not.

Shit shit shit shit shit.

ETA: I do have my health insurance card. But now my phone's dead. D: Heart rate is down to 115 or so.

I hope everything turns out okay. You ARE going even though your heart rate is down, right?

Yeah. I intended to go to my doctor no matter what, after two times with no trigger in two days, and since she ordered me to the ER, to the ER I go.

One thing that might help in the interim between realizing you have the attack and getting to the ER is to put your face in cold, cold water. There's a reflex that I think is from aquatic mammal ancestors where if your face is submerged in cold water your heart rate slows to conserve oxygen. Random science fact that I hope helps you!

Hope your alright!

And erm... not to sound stupid... but your heart rate isn't supposed to be so high? D:
Mine is always at around 115, at rest....

Beats per minute? o.O; That's really high. It's supposed to be between 60-90-ish. Mine used to be over 90 a bit, but that was because I was way out of shape. Since I've been active, I'm down in the 70's.

Anything above 100 when you're not exercising is considered tachycardia in an adult. :/ *worries*

o_o
Really O_O?
Mines ALWAYS been that high.
I remember when I was a kid, in gym classes they'd make us count bpm, nad always told me I did it wrong.
Ehhhh, I hsould probably do something then, eh?

Your normal physician never commented on it? It could just be the way you're taking it if the physician never saw a cause to worry. I know when I take my own pulse, I apparently go low.

How do you take it?

I.... dont have a normal physician haha.
I actually went to the doctors once this spring because I had the flu and couldn't stop vomiting.
It was the first time I'd been since I was eight. I dont get sick- so I dont go, haha.

Ahh in school it was always neck pulse counting, when they said stop and go.
I work at nursing homes though, and have had a few nurses and such take it, to make residents feel better about getting theirs taken.
That type of thing... if I do it myself, by wrist.

Hm, well. Still, you should get it checked out :/

The way I take mine (and this is the easy sloppy way) is at the neck, counting beats for ten seconds, then multiply by 6. You can also count beats for a whole minute, or half a minute and multiply by two.
