Notes : In my personal canon, there's a lot of rocky periods in the relationship... somehow, though, most of these turned out sickeningly sweet. XD Oh well~

Hecate's face shifts between three forms as she strokes Persephone's hair and tells her that, in the end, Hades only stole her for love.
#02 - Cool
The air of the Underworld is chilly where their palace is, and when she shivers, unused to being away from the warm sunlight, he presents her with a furred palla to wrap around her shoulders.
#03 - Young
There's an undeniable generational gap between them, which tends to bother the other gods, but when his eyes are on her, she learns to ignore it.
#04 - Last
The last time he sees her before spring blossoms once more leaves him despondent for days, harsher than normal in his decisions, and the other gods begin to take notice.
#05 - Wrong
She wasn't supposed to succumb, to enjoy his lips on hers and his hands on her skin, but she can't help but smile when his fingers brush hers in passing.
#06 - Gentle
She never thought the King of the Underworld would have such unsure, tentative moments, but he often takes her in his arms and simply rests his head atop hers, thinking.

He's never truly had a woman look at him favorably - he is not the most attractive of the family, after all, and a pall of death hangs constantly around him.

Her mother hid her in the fields of Enna to keep her from all the men and gods who sought to win her heart, but Persephone was too child-minded to understand it as anything but keeping her from all her wonderful friends.

In such a desolate place, he needs the flowers twined in her hair, the scent of fruit on her skin, the pulse of life and the beat of her heart.

Sometimes, in her innocence or her frailty, she seems almost mortal, but that only adds to her beauty in his eyes.

He forms a cult of one as he worships her sun-filled skin, kissing a path down the center of her chest, stopping to nuzzle over her stomach.

For the first few years, Persephone sometimes took walks in the forests surrounding the palace, watching the spirits of the dead move silently by, unnoticing; but in time, it grew too disheartening, and she took her walks instead in the Elysian fields.

There is something beautiful and memorable in the way she sits on her slightly smaller throne, still soft and sweet since the passage of time has not yet begun to harden her, and he endeavors to remember it forever.

Once, a man tried to steal Persephone from him; he acted civil, invited him to dinner, and then imprisoned him in stone and left him there for all eternity.

When she tries to run during that first month of her captivity, anger boils through him, and he pins her to the wall, breath hissing between his teeth; she didn't try to run anymore.

There came a day when she realized that Hades was not only her husband, but her uncle, and that incest seemed to be a family affair.

Now is a life of mutual affection and responsibility; then was a life of drama and emotion and passion that they reclaim every night, for a few hours.

Every six months, she has to deal with tears; in the fall, they're the tears of a mother losing her daughter, in the winter, the tears of two lovers parting.

He is not an emotional god, but he makes no attempt to disguise the depth of his desire, mental and physical, for his young bride.

He finds it amusing that she prizes the golden bough from Cumae so, but it does make for an interesting quest to give heroes.

In Death's arms, Life sleeps comfortably, content, happy.

Over the years, she learns that the sound of souls is not as unnerving as she used to think, and indeed, it begins to lull her to sleep.

She never took to reading, and instead sits by his feet as he tells stories of great tragedies and powerful heroes.

His eyes are dark, absorbing the light, as he watches her every move with quiet affection.

She remembers a day when she shouted angrily that she would never love him, and it seems absurd as she curls close to her husband, on the edge of sleep.

He listened, half surprised, as she sang a long forgotten song while brushing out her hair, seeming to forget his presence.

His fingers grabbing into her hips and lifting her into the air made her tense up, in horror, and before she knew it, her feet were settled on the harsh ground of the Underworld.

It was only when she saw his smirk and felt that strange twisting in her gut that she stopped eating, setting down the seventh seed before something terrible could sprout within her, but she was too late.

One month was not enough to get to know one another, and it is only when they're given six straight months that Persephone realizes that, perhaps, it isn't such a bad match after all.
