I think I might be just a little crazy. Last night, I got the urge to write an idea that's bobbing around in my head. It's turning out shorter than I expected, since it's not fully plotted out, so it may just be a draft. BUT.

It has to do with Sophia and Vincent, post series, and it's angsty. D: XD

It's not amazingly good, but I can't stop writing it. XD It has to do a BIT with Alex, too, or what's left of him anyway. And I'm exploring the political situation after the series.

Because I sincerely doubt they could elevate the Silvana to the level of savior, no matter what. Not enough people knew of its involvement - they only knew of it as a nightmare. And Alex was a well-known criminal, and the people sure as HELL didn't know (and probably would wonder at) Sophia was on board and in command from THERE.

Plus, a world of Disith and Anatoray combined, no matter how nice the people are, will be tenuous at best - they've killed so many family and friends on both sides, Sophia has to play a careful balancing act to keep them still at peace. Not to mention, Anatoray must be scared to death of another, still unknown, absolute ruler - but I bet you the nobility is too corrupt for her to hand over her power.

I'm writing Disith as a military state, with the leaders not being hereditary (so no convenient princes to marry off - I think we would have seen them in the show), and stuff. Helps me with my own plot~

You probably already thought of this, but keep in mind that Anatoray is based upon the British model of "for Queen/King/Emperor and Country" (e.g. "Sir Mad-thane/Madsein [you can tell me which one is canon, right? :-P] expects your best until the end!") with the hereditary nobility built in. Disith is just fighting for survival and is more nationalistic ("For Disith!") and seems to be more focused on the citizens, e.g. the part where they urge them on into the escape rockets. There's bound to be tension at the very least.

Man, I know there's a good historical example, but it escapes me. ;-;

Oh. And there's the matter of remnants of the Guilders still hanging around. SOME might integrate into society (with lots of strain and fighting and stuff - OHNOES GUILDERS TAKING MAH JOBS!), but what if some stay loyal to the construct of "Maestro" - and see, say, the "leader" (even though she really was kind of just a figurehead) of the Resistance as a traitor who needs to be executed.


Any other wonderful ideas I should remember? :D

The whole idea of Sophia being a traitor... I don't know enough about the Guild's reign over Prester to make a call on that, but there seemed to be enough resentment to A) make life tough on Guilders who came down from the Grand Stream and elsewhere, despite the technical expertise they'd bring along with them, and B) cause enough infighting and chaos. Consider the fact that House Eraclea came to power through faction fighting and probably a lot of purging. Historical example: how the Bolsheviks pretty much rose up by executing the tsars. There are still White Russian loyalists today who want to restore the Romanovs to some sort of literal, if not figurehead, rule over Russia today.

Hm, interesting. Yes, I suppose what's left of House Eraclea (the only ones who would CARE that Delphine was dead to the point of seeking vengeance) would be much too busy trying to protect itself to try anything dasterdly. So I'll probably keep their involvement in the plot to labor uprisings against Guilders seeking jobs and stuff.


See, this is why we totally need to get moving on the panel. XD

The doubly good thing is that by the time Otakon has happened, I plan to have started flying lessons and I could give a pretty good science segment on the forces of aerodynamics and LE technology on working with them. Plus there's the whole parallel between Claus' vanship and the Gee Bee air racers that I'm uncovering, too.
